A day in the life of a new mom
7 weeks and 2 days since a full night of sleep. You know how when you are single, not pregnant or not a mom, you think... maternity leave - must be nice to get time off from work for 3 months. I used to think that way obnoxiously until tonight, as the past few nights.
If you are wondering how I have time to blog if I am "so busy", FYI I am pumping right now.... you asked.
Night so far:
9 pm - Find out husband has symptoms of cold, flu or bubonic plague. First concern is that baby not catch it because by God, any more lack of sleep and I may kill someone and plead insanity just to sleep through a night.
9 pm - 9:30 feed baby 2oz of milk hoping for longer sleep
9:40 - finally finish swaddling baby like a bug in a rug and put him down
9:47pm baby destroys your stupid fantasy of sleep and wakes up crying like a banshee
10:30 turns out baby had super peed and mini pooped so cleaned and placed hicupping baby back into crib
10:35 cleans bottles and puts for sterilizing
11:05 baby cries in middle of sterilizing
11:30 decides that baby needs milk and nurses
11:45 baby sleeps while nursing, decides that feeding baby 2 oz in bottle will help him sleep longer, heats bottle, puts away sterilized bottles to dry, feeds baby, burps and back to the crib we go
12:30 baby finally in crib and realize that I must pump or go to the hospital from the pain, choose to pump since going to hospital means getting kids ready
12:50 in the middle of pumping, chose to be "creative" and write a blog
1:10 baby wakes up upset, checks diaper - wet.. why can't these stupid diaper people make diapers that are super absorbent and don't cause diaper rash.. I mean seriously what year is this?
1:38 baby down, back to pumping
1:50 stupid plan to fill baby belly backfires with epic explosive poop, dress change in middle of night like a bollywood song
2:13 place baby back in crib and resume pumping
2:35 am - realize near end of pumping that hand washing was forgotten but instead of being overwhelmed with mommy guilt, decide that it builds immunity or gastroenteritis one of which is good. 50-50 chance are high odds too.
2:45 - finally finally get to lie down in small quadrant of bed left for me by 10 year old. Remember kicking plague ridden husband mercilessly to 10 yo room to perish
